And Now For Something Totally Different

Inspired by Cards Only magazine, which always features some cards made without cute stamps, I made these two cards for my brother (30 today, yay!) and my stepdad (birthday last Thursday). Not totally happy with them yet, but then I didn't really have the supplies for these kinds of cards...well, that's what I tell myself, and any excuse to go shopping right? ;o) Anyway, these cards were very quick to make and easy "man" cards, always a difficult one I think!

Miss Anya's bag and hairband are absolutely covered with glitters, but you can't see it very well in the photo.

Made this for the Sugar Bowl challenge, which is a lovely sketch by Lia and the colour option blue/green. I think I've got that covered ;o)

Ingredients used:
Collage Press Jackson Lodge paper, Aud Design sentiment, brads

Kaisercraft paper, Daisy D's sentiment card, Pebbles Inc. Candy Dots, QuicKutz flower dies

Sugar Nellie stamp, Daisy Bucket Designs sentiment, My Mind's Eye paper, Papertrey Ink ribbon, Prima flowers, spacers, Pebbels Inc. Candy Dots, brads

That's all from me folks, enjoy your week and thank you for stopping by, your comments are much appreciated!

Secret Cards

Don't you just LOVE Valentine's Day?!? I do, even though I don't get any "romantic" cards (well, maybe this year, fingers crossed ;o)) I love to swap Valentines with friends and family. Silly, maybe, but why not let someone you care about know that they're special to you, right? ;o) Take my friend Moon, for instance. I've never met her, we know each other only from the internet (forums, blogs, e-mails etc.) and from talking on the phone about three times a week! Isn't it funny how you can get on so well with someone you've never met? Well, I may have made her a card for Valentine's, but I wouldn't be able to show it here obviously, so I might do that next week :D.

In the meantime, here's the notebook I made for the new Double Dutch challenge (anything but a card) and a card I made a few weeks ago for a swap (someone sent me paper and embellishments and I had to make a card with it and send it back).

This is Studious Sally, a real smarty pants who skips grades like most girls skip rope ;o) She is 13 years old and starting university in September! Sally is as organized about her life as she is about her studies, and she's already bought all her books, notepads, pencils and everything else she'll need in September... She also always carries around a ruler, pencil, sketchbook and brush, for she is a great artist too and likes to wander round the woods and meadows, sketching the wildlife. Oh, to be that young and accomplished...let's hope she doesn't forget to enjoy normal teenage life every once in a while ;o)

Have you met Sonya yet? With her sled she helps out those who need her most: people struggling home through the snow with bags full of shopping, kids who are so poor they don't have sleds but do like to play outside in the snow, ski-ers who've broken a limb and need to get down off the mountain: Sonya's always there! I don't know how she does it, but she's a miracle worker ;o)

Materials used:

Magnolia stamp, PaperSalon sentiment, Three Bugs in a Rug paper, Prima flowers, Stamping Bella baubles, ribbon, brads

That's it for now, gotta run, Desperate Housewives is on in a minute! Be back tomorrow with the second story and material list ;o) (oh, to be hooked on TV shows ;o))

Hugs,

Time Well Spent...

Did I ever have a great vacation! I made cards, lazed around watching DVDs, had a fun day with a bunch of card-making addicts ;o), went shopping: it rocked! Unfortunately work's been so busy that I need another vacation already (no time off will go unpunished, *lol*), but luckily it's the weekend, so that'll do for now ;o) Anyway, here's some of the stuff I made:

Meet Cupcake Chloe, who helps Matilda Muffin make all the treats for the orphans and children in hospital. They've gotten so busy, with orders from companies and for parties, that they're looking for a small shop where extremely allergic Matilda can make all the goodies in a sterile space and Chloe can sell everything in the shop! Of course they'll also still keep making treats for the children, out of the goodness of their hearts ;o)

Now, do you remember the girl who went to France to stay with her cousin and got herself a make-over? She's also called Matilda ;o), and we are now a few months on and Matilda is getting very much above herself. The more she gets whistled at in the street, the more airs and graces she gets... The other day she was walking along with her nose so high in the air and her sunglasses on, she walked straight into a street lantern! That bump made her realise that she needed to start acting normal pretty sharpish, so now she's a sweet girl again, still very fashion-conscious but a whole lot nicer!

This I made for the third Double Dutch Challenge :D!

I made this tin for Elzybells' 5th birthday. They're having a party on the blog with tutorials, free give-aways and free shipping in the online shop, so scoot on over there!

No such thing as too much paper, right?!

I'm sure I'm not alone in this, but I can't stop buying paper! I have piles of the stuff, it practically needs its own room, but still I can't stop buying... I was at the craft store last week, picking up some new Magnolia stamps and some presents for a friend, and I saw this new MME paper: I was sold! Had to have it, no matter that I had just received the Card Kit and it had the same MME paper, only in different colours... Yep, I'm that bad, but this is an addiction after all, and a fairly harmless one at that, right girls ;o)!

Anyway, a fairly productive week, with more made but can't show that yet, as it's for a twinsister swap :D.

Idea for this project by Daan.

Meet the Summer Sisters! They're not real sisters, mind, but that's the name of their band. Sabrina, Selena and Sarah perform at parties, festivals and as the opening act for Ma-Don't-A, Wham-Bam-Fizzle, Take This, The Frontstreet Guys and many more ;o). From April through September they're fully booked and then, as soon as the first signs of Autumn become visible (and feelable ;o)), they each retreat to their own luxurious penthouse to hibernate until the following summer...aaaaah, the life of a star!

Layout for this card from a workshop by Christa.

May I introduce Anita Applepie? She was recently able to fulfil her dream, to own her own bakery, because she won the lottery! Problem is, the bakery is very nice and all, but she can only make applepie, and nothing else... But it is really delicious applepie, and people come from all over to buy it from her! She likes to sneak a taste every now and then too, and that voluminous dress conceals a little applepie-tummy ;o). She should probably learn to make something else soon...diet applepie maybe?

Pffff, this is Monica, only eight years old and already a supermodel! Look at how professional she's posing, isn't she cute :D. With the superstardom also came the airs and graces, because everyone was always telling her: "Oooh Monica, you're so beautiful, and so good!" At school her classmates (who called her Monica the Monster behind her back) were getting sick and tired of hearing "I'm Monica, and I'm a Model" all day long, so something had to be done... You see, Monica used to have hair to her waist, but when she was bragging about being a model for the umpteenth time in class, the boy behind her cut one of her pigtails off...and so the other one had to come off too... Now she's home-schooled, and says a prayer every night that her hair will grow back again soon ;o)

Petticoat Patty

is haar naam,

is her name,
little Miss Shy has shot to fame :D.
Surrounded by PaperSalon paper,
she will go off on a dancing caper ;).
With a PaperSalon text circle and Prima flowers,
she can stay out till all hours.
This was my poem, it's not very good :p,
but it put Petticoat Patty in a good mood :D!

About six weeks ago I finished this Paperbag Booklet for Inge, and it hasn't been easy keeping it secret! It's her birthday on Wednesday, and along with this "creation" I gave her the stamp of the House Mouse on the front of the booklet.

I filled the booklet with special and funny messages for the birthday girl, and the cute little House Mouse mice make the picture complete ;).

Presents from QuicKutz, rub-ons from Doodlebug (throughout the booklet) and the flowers are from Bazzill/Prima.

I used Chatterbox paper, a favorite of both of us, so easy to work with and quick too, even though you may not think so ;). Letters are from QuicKutz Sunshine alphabet :D.

This one didn't turn out quite how I had in mind, but kinda nice anyway. Wishes was made using QK Abigail, and Wish is a separate die.

The last page already, honestly, it went really really fast and was fun to make! Some days I had inspiration enough for three layouts at a time, and other days I only made one, but it was always fun :D!

Here is a complete overview with bag and paperclip.
